Rosa Cheng is a talented Cantonese opera performer who offers a versatility and diversity of styles in her singing and acting. Her career as a Cantonese opera artist started in 1993 and founded the Vancouver Cantonese Opera Company in 2000.

She has since performed in principal female role in many Cantonese opera repertoires. Some of her works includes famous repertoires such as “The Yang’s Family”, “The Peony Pavilion”, “Princess Cheung Ping”, “The Battle of Hung Jau”, ”An Imperishable Love” for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic “Cultural Olympiad”, “The Concubine’s Vengeance” and “The Legend of the Purple Hairpin” . She takes every opportunity to refine and deepen her interpretation with every repertoire. She learned from many renowned Beijing opera artists like Mr. Siu Wah Lee, and Ms Xiao Fu Li. She is also an excellent teacher in Cantonese opera technique and singing. She dedicates herself in the preservation and promotion of Cantonese opera in Canada.

應國鳳自1993年正式踏足粵劇演藝事業;並於2000年成立卑詩省慈善藝術演出團體燕鳳鳴粵劇團。劇團成立至今共演出超過50齣不同劇種之傳統名劇,文場武打兼備,包括:楊門女將、牡丹亭驚夢、帝女花、穆桂英大破洪州、再世紅梅記、 紫釵記等。並為2010年加拿大主辦之冬季奧林匹克運動會之文化項目演出任、白名劇九天玄女。

應國鳳對表演藝術的追求從不間斷,力求完美。更師承京劇表演藝術家李少華老師及李曉芙老師學習京劇的表演程式及身段;並將所學融會貫通從而形成應國鳳創新而不忘傳統的獨特表演風格。加上應國鳳對劇中人物性格的揣摩及演繹均非常用心及細膩;故廣為溫哥華觀眾所喜。除致力演出外,燕鳳鳴粵劇團設有粵曲研習班及粵劇身段班;由藝術總監應國鳳親自教授傳統粵劇歌唱及表演技巧;以期向不同年齡及族裔之人士推介此獨特及傳統之文化藝術。從而達到保存及推廣粵劇文化之目的。

Ms. Ho is a famous professional Cantonese opera artist from Hong Kong. When Ms. Ho was a teenage, she started understudying with her uncle, the famous Mr. Fay Farn Ho. Mr. Fay Farn Ho was a very famous opera performer during the 50’s. He was compared to Clark Gable in the western culture. He taught Ms. Ho the singing technique and performing skill, and gave her a solid foundation in the Chinese opera performing arts. Later, Ms. Ho also studied with many famous teachers. For many years, she became the lead performer of many Cantonese opera troupes both in Hong Kong, South East Asia and North America. Recently, she formed her own company called the “Fay Farn Heung Cantonese Opera Troupe”. Ms. Ho is a Canadian citizen living in Hong Kong.

何偉凌小姐是香港粵劇著名文武生。 凌姐自幼跟隨叔父何非凡學習粵劇。 何非凡先生為50年代著名大老倌, 他可比得上當年西方電影紅星奇勒基寶。 他傳授凌姐粵曲及粵劇基本功, 使凌姐有一個十分堅固的粵劇藝術基礎。 凌姐之後更跟隨多位名家學藝, 成為香港,東南亞及北美洲各地的著名文武生。 近年更自立班牌 “非凡晌粵劇團”。 凌姐已移民加國, 已成為加國公民。

Mr. Quan Du is an experience Cantonese opera performer from Seattle, U.S.A. He is specialized in the role of Mou Saang i.e. elderly male character. He is also the director of Lok Ngai Musical Society in Seattle. He has performed many times in Vancouver and other part of the States. He has been participating in the performances of Vancouver Cantonese Opera Society since year 2003.

美國西雅圖資深演員杜全自2003年即為燕鳳鳴粵劇團演出至今。杜全除為燕鳳鳴粵劇團演出外,亦經常穿梭美、加各城市演出。杜全擅長武生行當,唱功、做手之寸度恰到好處。
杜全除是資深演員外,亦是美國西雅圖樂藝音樂社總監。

Hoi Seng Ieong

Mr. Ieong was enrolled to the Youth Cantonese Opera School of Zhan Jiang in 1959. Under the instruction of various famous opera performers, he had been the major performer of the Zhen Jiang Cantonese Opera Youth Group and the Zhen Jiang Cantonese Opera Group. He immigrated to Macau in 1987 and was the founder of Macau Cantonese Opera Academy. During those years, he participated in the Cantonese opera performances in Portugal, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong etc. In 1997, he moved to Canada and established Hoi Seng Cantonese Opera Academy. His academy organizes performances every year. In May 2004, Mr. Ieong was appointed by the cultural department concerned of Chinese Government as a consultant to the Cantonese Opera Dictionary.

楊海城是一個功底扎實善於用戲曲表演程式結合戲劇理論塑造人物。1997年移居加拿大後,成立楊海城粵劇學院;並參與温哥華多個劇團、樂社之演出,更被邀前赴多倫多,卡加利,愛民頓,三藩市及西雅圖等地演出大受歡迎。楊海城更曾任澳門政府文化委員會委員。2004年受中國有關文化部門禮聘為編輯粵劇大辭典顧問
