In February 1959, the Zhanjiang Cantonese Opera Troupe in China accepted Mr. Ieong in their troupe, then later he transferred to the Zhanjiang Youth Cantonese Opera Troupe. He had studied with many famous Cantonese opera artists. He also learned from many Beijing opera artists. Mr. Ieong is a firm believer of learning from other disciplines of arts and tries to apply what he learned to his performing skill. He later became the principal artist in Zhanjiang Cantonese Opera Troupe and the Zhanjiang Youth Cantonese Opera Troupe. In 1980 he immigrated to Macau. He toured and performed in Portugal, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong. In 1987 he established Macau Cantonese Opera Academy. In 1997, he immigrated to Vancouver, B.C., and once again established Ieong Hoi Seng Cantonese Opera Academy. Every year he invited professional Cantonese opera artists from Hong Kong to perform in Vancouver. He is a dedicated professional.
